Amoxicillin

So met for coffee and cinnamon buns in park with friends this AM. Had Chance on my lap, he ate his cinnamon bun and drank his milk, then scampered off to play, that is when I realized my white pants had a coffee stain on the thigh. Then realized that the same coffee stain was on Chance's bum. Not coffee. Poop.

Cam changed Chance and then discovered a rash on his tummy and back. Another side effect in addition to the diarrhea (and in reality, Chance has basically been on a liquid diet since this heat wave hit, he just drinks juice, water and milk, occasional chunk of bread and cheese, watermelon, etc., so maybe the amoxicillin is not entirely to blame. But the rash is definitely a side effect of the drug, but not harmful, according to pharmacy pamphlet.

Other than that, Chance is feeling fine. Cam and I finished the north gate this afternoon while Chance slept, it looks and works great.

Dinner was grilled chicken smokies for Mom and Dad, Chance thoroughly enjoyed his hot dog, pasta salad, cheese, bun, milk and chocolate pudding. First time he really ate all day, but he had a huge meal. We have been enjoying our patio set at dinner time, eating outdoors is one of my favorite things about the summer.

Little bump in the plan....but rolling now!

So Chance came down with a throat infection and Thursday night ran a high fever, so into the doctor he went on Friday and Mom had to skip her project initiation notice with partners, boo. Her boss was very nice and sent an email to let her know that he would cover off for her, and her colleague emailed later in the day to let her know how the meeting went. Nice co-workers!

So we've been fighting a fever in 30°C weather, which is interesting, it basically means that Chance goes no where without a sippy cup full of water or juice. And his soother and his blankie. So he looks like a really miserable little guy when going to the grocery store or pharmacy, he got lots of sympathy from well-wishers.

But now the antibiotics have kicked in, the fever is kicked out, and his only complaint at night is that his monkey stuffed animal wasn't placed correctly to keep his soother from falling out. Well!

Here are a few videos from yesterday's construction of yard gates. We successfully installed the posts for the 2 gates and tomorrow Cam is going first thing to the hardware store to get the lumber to build the gates, as well as a rototiller for the garden. Mom and Chance will stay home and bake cinnamon buns before it gets too hot, then we will meet Ayla and her folks for a coffee and walk in Fish Creek Park.

Ew

So today we took a quick trip out to our storage facility to bring our camper out of hibernation. I wanted to open it up in the fresh air this afternoon before we take it out on a trip. Am I ever glad I did, because when we opened it up, we found....mold! Mold on one of the beds and canvas of the wing. We must have put one of the wings away improperly last fall, but it wasn't too bad, cleaned it up with bleach bleach and more bleach.

Looking forward to camping trips this summer. Chance was pretty smitten with the camper, he kept pointing at it and saying "ooooooooo".

Happy Mother's Day, Mom

When I picked Chance up from day care today he was smeared head to toe in chocolate cake. The kids ate cake together to celebrate Mother's Day. "Where's my cake??" was what I was thinking when I picked Chance up. Chance also had apple juice and (evidently) rice krispie cake, as I found it glued to his shirt. After all that sugar Chance was running around like he was on jet fuel. We took him to the park (there is a big soccer field) and just let him GO. He ran about 100 or 150 m, then I went to him, turned him around, and told him to run to Daddy. He covered that field in about 45 seconds! When we put him in his crib after his bath, his little chest was heaving because he was breathing so hard - exhausted little boy!

Here we are modeling the matching toques Gramma Jo knitted for us. Funny how I am always the last person to get dressed in the morning!

Chance took quite a liking to Ocky Duck, a wooden toy made by my Great Uncle Oscar (Ocky) who gave it to my sister and I 22 years ago. My dad had to make another stick to go into Ocky's back, because the original was lost years ago. The truth is, the stick is burried out by the caragana bushes in my old backyard in Broadview -- I hid it there to keep my sister from playing with Ocky!

We had quite a good visit with my Granny!

Here is Chance enjoying his new toy box at Gramma Jo's house.

Back from Regina

We had a good visit in Regina with Gramma Jo and Grampa Phil, Auntie Jen and Uncle Paul.

This has been a super short week, in part because we only came back on Tuesday but also because I am taking tomorrow off to see all my doctors in one day - it has been difficult to get all the appointments on the same day, but I think this is the simplest way to get some much-needed stuff out of the way, eye exams, etc.

Chance has been doing OK at his new day care for these last 2 days. Every day he gets a report card, so we know how many diapers he used (today they circled and underlined "BM" at his 11:30 diaper, must have been impressive), when he slept (nearly 3 hours today, wow), what and how much he ate (it's always lots), what he did (played outside, coloured, etc.). Also they do arts and crafts at this place, and Chance made a gift for me for Mother's Day, just have to wait until Sunday to open it.

Cam cooked supper tonight while Chance and I made a run to the local dry cleaners to pick up a Sears order I put in. They had cute little sweatshirt/sweatpant suits for $6, so I got 2 for Chance, as well as a golf shirt for Cam. Supper was good, Chance ate as much as I did -- pizza, it's not unusual for him to pig out on pizza. After he was finished dinner he enjoyed one of Gramma Jo's pumpkin cranberry cookies. After we got all cleaned up we settled in for an episode of Thomas the Train. Well, some of us settled in, others danced around and hoot-hooooooted loudly.

We are having dinner guests over for supper on Saturday as it is our turn to host our potluck dinner club meal. Our theme is "my favorite recipe". So far the menu is a pecan-spinach salad, mashed potatoes and gravy with rosemary garlic pork roast with yorkshire puddings, and a mystery dessert, as the guy bringing dessert says he has nine favorite dessert recipes and needs some time to decide.
