...and you say to your friends: "Let's do this!"

OK, that's an obscure geology-school reference, but the idea here is - I'm taking the plunge. I'm going to at least to try to use the cloth diapers I bought for Chance. Really, really try. He's in one right now. Now that he's bigger the disparity between the diapers and his clothes is not so great, so I can't use my old excuse of "his clothes won't fit".

So, I am going to aim for most of his diapers being cloth. Night time diapers will still be disposable Pampers. I'm also going to install a clothesline in the yard, so I can dry his diapers outside. Screw the supposed city bylaw. Drying your clothes out of doors is a great way to save energy. Stick that in your Kyoto pipe and smoke it.

6 month weight and length

Fever

11:00 PM. Mmmff. What do you mean the baby's crying? Wha..?
11:20 PM. Baby you were almost asleep, now you're really crying! OKOK I'm coming. OK. Oh my God you're burning up I'm so sorry SORRY SORRY!
11:21 PM. Baby Tylenol.
11:25 PM. Baby Tylenol vomit.
11:33 PM. Hellonursemy6montholdhasafeverandhehadhisshotstoday. Huh? Oh. Um. No rash. No. He vomited the tylenol up. Give him more? Hold him upright?
11:45 PM. Shhhh honey. Shhh....I'm sorry I did this to you, it is for your own good though.
12:20 AM. OK, you'll nurse now. OK. This I can do.
1:00 AM. Sleep now, Chancey. I love you. Love you love you love you.
3:30 AM. Hungry again. You're warm but not too warm. You nurse, you go back to sleep. I can't wait until the morning. You'll be better in the morning.

6 month Immunizations

3 needles later and Chance took it like a pro. He is a bit irritable now, very sloooow too, so we are going for a walk in the Chariot. The harness will keep him from moving too much and it is time for him to sleep anyways.

Weight was good at 16 lbs 7 oz, and he has grown only 1/2 an inch, but still 27" is quite tall for a baby who was 20.5" only 6 months ago. As you can see in this Calvin Klein-esque photo, Chance is really starting to fill out, but he still has that lean look. Must come from his Daddy.

His nap this morning was one of his longest, an hour and a half. I read the whole time that he was asleep. I am reading a book called Inconsolable: How I Threw My Mental Health Out With the Diapers by Marrit Ingman. It is great so far.

Today I mailed my application to APEGGA to register as a Professional Geologist. Hopefully they take my money and say OK, otherwise I will have to wait until October to work a few more months and try again. I don't think changing diapers counts as developing my professional skills.

Operation Down Low: Complete(or Separation Anxiety Bites The Big One)

Chance's crib is now on the lowest position. He is starting to pull up while he is in the bath tub, which means it is probably not too far away in the future that he will start doing it outside the bath tub. So we decided it was time to lower the mattress. Unfortunately Cam was sick on the weekend so we did not get the job done while there were two of us to handle Chance and the crib...so I did it this morning.

The whole time Chance was screaming bloody murder in his rocking giraffe. (Did you see that? I made a link!) So I took him out of the giraffe and let him run around with his toys, but my goodness that was even worse! I just tried to get the crib mattress lowered ASAP! When I was done I picked up Kiddo and he slimed my shoulder and arm - snot snot everywhere. He had just worked himself up into an absolute lather. He has been like this for the last week or so - suddenly he decides it's not OK to be on his own and needs to be picked up now. Not now, but NOW.

It took 15 minutes of rocking and cuddling to get the hiccups to stop. Now that the crisis is over, he's in his crib, happily motoring around with some toys. Stinker.

This morning Chance ate butternut squash for the first time. I bought the squash last weekend at the Calgary Farmer's Market, and steamed and pureed it last night. He didn't mind the squash, but I still think that sweet potatoes and bananas are his favorites.

Tomorrow Chance gets his 6 month shots at 8:30 in the morning. We've been fairly lucky so far, no fevers or excessive crying. Hopefully the trend continues....(knock wood)!

Shoot shoot shoot!

1) I lost a contact lens. Hopefully I can see an eye doctor today so that I can get contact lenses ASAP. I feel like a dweeb in my glasses, especially since I lose a significant amount of peripheral vision, so I bang into corners, walls, etc.
2) I spilled breastmilk all over the kitchen this morning. I smell sour milk everywhere! I will have to mop again and definitely bring out the bleach!
