Going to the zoo today...

I just put Karin down after nursing in the middle of the night...it always takes her a few minutes to settle down. We are going to the zoo this AM with Landen and his mom, who we knew from the RGH Mommies tour in 2006-2007. It will be great seeing them as I think it has been a bit more than 2 years!

**LATER**... well I would call it a successful day. The new animatronic dinosaur exhibit scared the crap out of Chance. It was pretty realistic! Very Jurassic Park. The allosaurus looked like it wanted to reach right down and eat us.

I only managed to take a few photos. Visiting the zoo with two kids was definitely more hectic than usual!!

Cutting teeth every which way!

Chance got 2 molars in 1 week!

The bottom left one cropped up last week, but we didn't discover it until we were at Meadow Lake. You could tell that it had been there for a few days at least by how much it was poking out of the gums.

Apparently the bottom right molar is there too, but I still haven't seen it. Cameron swears it's there though. No matter how much I tickle Chance or make goofy faces to make him smile wide, his little tongue is always tucked back in that cheek pocket, hiding the new molar. Maybe that's just as good evidence as actually seeing it...he's busy playing with his new tooth all the time!

Tomorrow I am getting together with the Rockyview Moms after work, we are going for dinner sans bebes! I will just stay late at work. I have a ton of work to do but I am in a training course all day tomorrow, so a few hours in the evening to get cracking will be a good thing.

Well, the house is quiet and I have a hot tub waiting for me, along with a cup of tea and a good book. Ciao for now!
p.s. Here is a funny photo from the weekend at Meadow Lake. On Sunday night we discovered a dirty diaper lying on the kitchen floor! We thought that maybe whoever had changed Chance last (Cam) had forgotten to put away the dirty diaper and that Chance had dragged it over a few feet from his changing area. Instead, Chance had ripped his diaper off but managed to keep his jeans ON. Like a little Houdini. Grandma Lillian thought it was so funny!

The Conclusion of RGH Moms & Babes Draws Near...

We got together with the RGH Moms & Babies group last week, I'm sure it will be one of our last meetings as some moms are due back at work towards the end of September. We have a "birthday" party planned for September 22. There has been so much change in the babies since last year.

I missed the first few meetings as Chance was the last baby to be born and it was about 3 weeks until I felt well enough to get out of the house. These RGH mothers have been such an important source of encouragement and support this year to Chance and myself. RGH Moms, if you are reading this: THANK YOU for all the fun times! We have really enjoyed our time together this year and I hope that we can occasionally find a time to get together in 2008!

RGH Baby Potluck

We went out to celebrate the birth of all the babies from our Rockyview Hospital prenatal classes last night. In total there were 8 babies present (out of 11). In total there were 13 couples in our prenatal classes so 11 have kept in touch to make a pretty good network of new-baby families.

One of the women came up with a baby-sitting co-op idea. It sounds like it will work as we all live in the SW and several of us live within 10 minute drives of each other. It will work like this: if we need someone to babysit Chance, we can call Mommy A who lives near our neighborhood. We would then have a 2-hour debt to the co-op. Later on, Mommy B needs a babysitter for 2 hours, and calls us to babysit - then our debt to the co-op is paid. We will have to see how it goes, but already this means that my dentist dilemma could be solved: the first dentist appointment on a Saturday I can get is April 21. With the co-op, I could arrange for a weekday dentist appointment within a month.

Cold Snap

Today meeting with the RGH Moms on 17th Avenue for coffee at Starbucks. It is very cold out (-15 C but windy so feels like -30 C). Will have to bundle Chance like a little Eskimo. We are picking up one RGH mom and her baby because she doesn't have a car and the Starbucks is too far away from C-train station to walk. Cam moved our car seat over last night so that there is room for her car seat.
