Sleeping in my bed...she woke up EARLY, didn't want to sleep in her own crib, so I brought her into our bed when Cam's alarm clock went off. She farted around with him for a few minutes and was asleep before he got out of the shower.

Crib Shots
Last few weeks I seem to have taken quite a few photos of Karin in her crib / sleeping.

5 month birthday
This one wasn't such a successful photo shoot. By the time I realized it was her birthday, it was 3 PM and all she wanted to do was nap. Not a happy little model. But an accurate portrayal of a teething, cranky 5 month old Karin! Taken on Day 3 in the new house -- note the bedroom wall colour change!

Moving Day...
Moving day started with a bit of a surprise, as the movers arrived at 8 AM instead of 8:30 AM. Cam had taken Chance to his dayhome and our babysitter for Karin had not yet arrived, so I was rushing all over the place with Karin under my arm like a football. It was drizzling rain to boot...we were thankful the movers wrapped all our furniture in shrinkwrap. We left the old house at noon and arrived at the new house at 12:30......however the guy meeting us with the keys was not there! Needless to say, Cam and I were majorly ticked off...especially because the clock was ticking with the movers...(paid hourly). One of the movers was quite a joker and told me that he had managed to break into the house, that he knew all the tricks. I was not feeling very good about that....until he laughed and said he had found a key on top of the door frame. We were all moved in and finished up by 4 PM or so. Our babysitter Chelsea was great with Karin, she held her and played with her while I was busy, and then when it was time to nurse Karin, Chelsea was right in there hauling stuff out from the garage up to various rooms. Cam took Chelsea home, picked up Chance, and grabbed a pizza for supper on the way back. Whew!

Karin being quite the "helper" unpacking the kitchen supplies.

Box city...we only recently got this room emptied out. The room is intended for a dining room...which we're not interested in havng. For now it serves as a lounge/flex area just off the kitchen. One day perhaps we will have a piano in here. To keep Cam from running into the light, we had it shortened by about a foot.

I didn't manage to take a photo of all the empty rooms in the old house, but did manage to get the basement. Goodbye, Old Basement!

All moved in....but now where did I pack my brain??
Well it's been quite a week. Both Cam and I are exhausted. At times I was getting stressed out before the move that we wouldn't get everything packed up. Now I scoff at that "stress" -- The last few days have been such a wild up and down rollercoaster of emotions, energy and patience. I've heard that moving is on of life's most stressful events, short of divorce and death. Now I believe it!
New house is settling in OK. Some lumps and bumps but we've managed to get service people in and fixing up some things that aren't working correctly. The appliances in this house are truly space-age. Sometimes you just want to turn the dial and hit "start" but then the d*mn thing beeps at you and says something like "eOF" on the display and then you've got to go through the manual to figure out that you didn't turn the d*mn water.
The kids are settling in although waking earlier than usual (probably due to two reasons: Karin's cutting teeth and the more frequent traffic outside the house). But they are sleeping well, so that is great.
"Tried" to take Karin's 5 month birthday pictures today but she wasn't really very happy and was desperately trying to shove her shirt into her mouth, chewing on fabric and fingers seems to give her the most relief from teething. Poor girl is a mess.
Well, I will try to get some photos here soon, but for now will go try to figure out how the clothes dryer works.

Lost Time
I heard on the radio this AM that the average person spends 1 year of their life looking for lost items: keys, wallet, etc. I hope I find the following while packing up for our move into the new house.
* my Henkels kitchen shears. They went missing Easter Monday. I was babysitting the neighbour's kid and vaguely remember using them at the end of the day. ***UPDATE*** Found them on top of the china cabinet with my cake decorating stuff. I remember using them to snip off the end of a piping bag to fill deviled egs. Yay!
* our YMCA passes. Have been missing for 2 weeks now. Have checked every gym bag, jacket pocket, etc.
* my stainless steel water bottle ***UPDATE*** Found it at the babysitting room at the YMCA. Still no sign of the YMCA passes though.
* my 2nd pair of great gardening gloves....I bought a backup pair just in case I lost my first great pair of gardening gloves....but I liked my first pair better. ***UPDATE*** Found in the garage!! Woohoo! Now just need to find the Y passes!
* Wingo & DJ Chance's toy cars from the movie Cars. ***UPDATE*** Found. Don't ask me where Chance found them, he just did.
* Chance's 2 pairs of sunglasses ***UPDATE*** Found in toybox.
* Karin's hot pink hair bow ***UPDATE*** Chance found it under his bed while voluntarily cleaning his room. I picked him up and hugged him, I think he was a bit dazed.
